Mate M. Soric, PharmD, BCPS
Mate M. Soric is a Clinical Pharmacist and Residency Program Coordinator at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center in Chardon, OH. He is also an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Pharmacy in Rootstown, OH. He received his BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from The University of Toledo in 2007 and 2009, respectively. He completed an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency at The Toledo Hospital Family Medicine Residency and obtained board certification in pharmacotherapy in 2010. He precepts pharmacy students from a number of schools and colleges of pharmacy along with students from other health professions.
Dr. Soric is an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists (OSHP), the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and the Ohio College of Clinical Pharmacy (OCCP). He serves on the Student and Resident Committee of the ACCP Ambulatory Care Practice and Research Network and on the Education Committee of the ACCP Adult Medicine Practice and Research Network. He is also Chair of the OCCP Communications Committee. He has authored articles and chapters on a number of subjects. His interests include direct patient care of both inpatients and outpatients, education of student pharmacists and residents, and evidence-based medicine.
Stacey R. Schneider, PharmD
Stacey R. Schneider serves as Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Northeast Ohio Medical University, Rootstown, OH, and Director of Student Development in the Office of Student Success. She is course director of the personal and professional development course and serves as course administrative director and mentor for faculty members who are course directors. Schneider earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2000.
S. Scott Wisneski, PharmD, MBA
S. Scott Wisneski is Director for the Health-System Pharmacy Administration (HSPA) Master’s degree program and Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). He received his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science, Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia, and Masters in Business Administration from Walsh University. Dr. Wisneski was previously the Pharmacy Manager at Summa Health System. He has held positions in clinical pharmacy, hospital pharmacy management, pharmaceutical industry, and the military. In addition to managing and teaching in the HSPA program, he serves as course director for the pharmacy practice management and healthcare delivery systems courses in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at NEOMED.
Dr. Wisneski received the P2 Teacher of the Year Award 2018 and the Teaching Innovation Award in Experiential Education 2008-2016.

Purpose
The effective training of future pharmacists is becoming more critical due to the expanding role of pharmacy services. The purpose of this book is to detail how to effectively precept both pharmacy students and residents.
Audience
Although all preceptors would benefit from this book, those who are new to precepting students and residents will find it most useful.
Features
Organized chapters cover an array of topics, from how to write a syllabus/learning experience to how to deal with difficult situations to preceptor assessment and development. Each chapter contains real-world cases demonstrating concepts in action. Additionally, case questions are supplied to promote critical thinking. Quick tips throughout the chapters and summary boxes toward the end of the chapters highlight key concepts. If further reading is necessary, the authors provide a list of suggested readings and references.
Assessment
This book does a good job providing both novice and seasoned preceptors tips on how to effectively precept pharmacy students and residents. Preceptor development is seldom taught and this book certainly provides the tools necessary to effectively enhance the education of future pharmacy professionals.
