John P. Uselton, RPh 

John P. (Pat) Uselton (Ret.) served as the V.P. of Quality and Regulatory Affairs for the Pharmacy Services business of Cardinal Health. In this position, Uselton led a team that provided assistance to organizations in preparing their pharmacies for accreditation surveys (e.g., The Joint Commission) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other regulatory surveys. The team focused on processes that promote compliance with standards and regulations by providing resources such as accreditation preparedness assessments, medication safety assessments, operational assessments, regulatory assessments, licensing assistance, gap analysis tools, USP Chapter <797> compliance tools, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis (RCA) workshops, and a variety of other tools and educational programs. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Houston in 1972. 

Mr. Uselton was a hospital pharmacist since 1972 with over 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry and in guiding pharmacies through more than 2000 regulatory and accreditation surveys. He is co-author of several publications including Assuring Continuous Compliance with Joint Commission Standards: A Pharmacy Guide, 7th edition. He is a contributing author to several other publications including the Handbook of Institutional Pharmacy Practice, 4th edition, and Competence Assessment Tools for Health-System Pharmacies, 4th edition. Uselton frequently presents to national and state pharmacy groups on accreditation, regulatory, medication safety, and other related topics.

Patricia C. Kienle, RPh, MPA, FASHP

Patricia C. Kienle is Director, Accreditation and Medication Safety, Cardinal Health Innovative Delivery Solutions, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Kienle helps healthcare administrators develop and execute comprehensive medication management programs in acute and non-acute care environments. Backed by more than 35 years of experience, Kienle is one of the nation's foremost experts on medication management and safety, accreditation, and regulatory issues. A graduate of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and Marywood University in Scranton, PA, Kienle completed an executive fellowship in patient safety at Virginia Commonwealth University and serves as Adjunct Associate Professor at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Ms. Kienle has also served a wide array of volunteer leadership roles in pharmacy, including serving on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and as President of the Pennsylvania Society of Hospital Pharmacists. She has also earned numerous state and national awards acknowledging her expertise in and dedication to hospital pharmacy, including the 2014 ASHP Award for Distinguished Pharmacy Leadership.

Lee B. Murdaugh, RPh, PhD

Lee B. Murdaugh is Director, Accreditation and Medication Safety, Cardinal Health Innovative Delivery Solutions, in Knoxville, TN. She received a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and a Doctorate in Drug and Materials Toxicology from the University of Tennessee. While pursuing her PhD, she was a Fellow of the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education. She also completed a traineeship in acute care anticoagulation at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital and certification in asthma patient care at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Murdaugh has over 27 years of experience in the healthcare industry and in assisting more than 1000 hospitals in preparation for regulatory and accreditation surveys. Prior to joining Cardinal Health, she served as the Director of Pharmacy in a 535-bed tertiary care hospital.

Dr. Murdaugh's practice interests are in the areas of medication safety, accreditation, regulatory compliance, and competence assessment. She is an author and contributing author to several ASHP publications and has also published in professional journals such as Hospital Pharmacy. She is a frequent speaker to national and state pharmacy professional organizations on accreditation, regulatory, medication safety, competence assessment, and other related topics.
